Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is similar to MBSR but with a focus on Depression and Anxiety. In this course, participants will practice mindfulness as a way of recognizing habits of thought, body, emotion and action, and of responding in new ways. Each of the sessions also includes an education component and opportunities for discussion and is experiential and recovery focused. Research shows that this course has the same efficacy as taking anti-depressant medications and enables us to engage in our lives to the fullest extent. This course itself and the skills learnt and practiced within each session are therapeutic. In addition, the effects of learning and practicing together provide support and encouragement and decrease isolation.
